Chow Down?? Hair Post #1...

On my quest to inspire more interest in the Leukaemia Foundation's Shave for a Cure event I have stumbled across some entertaining and somewhat unappetizing footage that relates to hair, the removal of it and perhaps an unorthodox way to utilize it once it's no longer attached to a head... I hope this inspires a laugh, a giggle or just a click to the link to may Be Brave and Shave donation page... Whatever happens, ENJOY!!!

PLEASE donate to the Leukaemia Foundation's Shave for a Cure event for 2011 where I will be taking part by shaving me head in Melbourne on Saturday the 12th of March!!! http://my.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/amoye?SID=138873&Lang=en-CA

Blue Snow Pants...

I would like to introduce whom ever is interested to my new favourite place on the planet (I have actually introduced this place before but I feel that it is MORE than worthy of a more specific mention)... Bf's parent's cottage on Wasaga Beach on the Georgian Bay is the most peaceful place I have been to and I have to say that I'm a little in love with it! I was lucky enough to be invited there for both Thanksgiving and Christmas and even luckier to witness the spectacular that is a frozen beach!!! Insane!! Fingers crossed that I have the chance to say a proper goodbye to Wasaga Beach before my departure...

Taboganing for the first time...

Let the Light In...

Todd Selby is my photography God when it comes to the spaces he gets to explore! I the days when I pop over to his site and play envious voyeur for 15minutes because, truth be told, over the last 3 years I have started to pine for a space of my own - one that screams 'ME' in a way that isn't obnoxious and overbearing but yummy and worthy of genuine jealously. One which I can take time and care to fill with bits and pieces of random goodness that hasn't been picked up from some mass market furniture store and certainly wasn't put together with an allan key (no offense IKEA, I do appreciate your goodness...). One update explored the blinding light in Erin Wasson's loft. I'm not a devoted follower of hers although I can definitely appreciate her genuineness and earthy beauty but honestly, I-LOVE-HER-HOME!!!! While I am currently bunkered down in a basement apartment I am dying for a floor to ceiling window... I would like to be sitting in a chair that swallows me into its cushiony goodness with a cup of English Breakfast tea (two sugars because I'm a boomba) with my feet on the window sill while reading my new book in total natural light... hmmm... to dream...

I have a thing for big wooden doors... see far right

Light Bulb Moment...

I couldn't sleep last night and amongst the many, many thoughts rolling around inside my skull was a question about how to get people excited and involved and donating to my Shave for a Cure endeavor... The Leukaemia Foundation provides all participants with a web page but it's limited and I am worried that what I want to post might offend... Solution... utilize my very own forum derrrr... So the possible/hopeful conclusion to my conundrum is to do weekly posts here that somehow relate to hair... The use of it, the loss of it, the possibilities of it and promote them - the posts - through facebook... Fingers crossed people start paying attention...

Good Call...

It makes the world of difference even on the worst of days...

I Fell in Love Today...

As per always - and seeing as I have no specific plans until I start my final year of uni upon my return to Australia - I spent part of my day trawling through my ever expanding list of blogs... And I stumbled across a gem. And by gem I mean I fell out of the couch in which I was securely wedged with my mouth open and drooling!! Maria Van Nguyen - the author of Vanilla Scented - has a style that exudes a simplistic cleanliness that is so refreshing and yummy without melting into the same old 'this season's trend is minimalism-bla bla bla'..... I have kept the blog open most of the day constantly going away to at least attempt to be productive before eventually returning time after time to continue exploring the - hopefully - never ending archives... Prepare yourself to witness what MY dreams are made of...

I have no doubt that the future of my blog is going to contain a little bit more of Vanilla Scented...

Zzzzz...

Quick little gripe.... I have started taking yoga classes this past week and seeing as I was going 3 to 4 times a week before I left Melbourne it isn't all surprising that I have been daydreaming about the goodness that percolates inside me during and after a class since my first session back. I was really looking forward to today's yoga/pilates fusion class seeing as the bf is away I knew I could get up and at-em at my own pace before heading around the corner to Yoga Space. And the class was all that I was hoping for until the Shivasynah (excuse the spelling - it may or may not be correct) which concludes the class and is basically a 5 minute silent mediation. The woman next to me started snoring! I mean really... Firstly I was surprised at how quickly she fell asleep but then the grating sound of whatever friction was going on at the back of her throat almost drove my to physical violence! I realize this may be a severe over reaction but shit, all I wanted to do was have some down time and wrap a good, sweaty yoga/pilates class. If I wanted to hear someone snoring while I tried to relax I'd take a nap at a snorer's anonymous meeting... that is all...

A Face That Will Transcend Time...

I have always, ALWAYS loved Audrey Hepburn. Seriously... I just see her face and can't help but stare. And I love her movies... clearly. Paris When it Sizzles and Funny Face = all time favourites!! I came across this image this morning and melted into its simplicity and innocence. She exudes a subtle, unfussy-ness that I feel so inspired by and I know will continue to be inspired by for a very long time...

I have no doubt that I have an epic girl crush on Natalie Portman for the aforementioned reasons why I love Audrey Hepburn...

There's a subtle sadness that I keep finding myself drawn to... is that odd... Or am I simply developing a new perspective on beauty???

Oh beauty, have I found thee?

Whilst conducting my daily blog read through Style Bubble has once again introduced me to a link of undeniable visual feast-y-ness!!! Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre have a site that documents ruins through photography and I couldn't not share these even if I wanted to!! The photos are clearly serving as some kind of historical documentation, story telling time capsule. I was in such awe of their beauty that I found myself - not 10mins ago now - clicking through each reel of photographs over and over again each time discovering new details, another piece of the puzzle, more depth in the story. I have considered going on and on about these delicious pieces of art but I have decided to let the photos speak for themselves... All photos are taken in Detroit, Michigan USA

If Money Grew on Trees...

I did a bad thing... I set up a Boutiques.com account after seeing it mentioned once or twice on a few of my favourite blogs. This is NOT a good idea!! I basically spend too much time (even more than what I do on Facebook if you can believe it) trawling through images of clothes that as of this moment I am no where near being able to afford... Anywho, you will find below the beginnings of a rather long list of favourites - ones which I would gladly stuff into my already overflowing suitcase if I could only win the lottery...
