A Lesson I Learnt Today...

Job hunting is hard particularly when you're well aware that you're lack of industry experience is glaringly obvious. Surprisingly however, I am not undeterred. This year will be both productive and intellectually advancing. It has to be because I know what I want, I just need to - in the words of my especially inspiring bf - make it happen!

Ahh, Excuse Me. I Think You're Dribbling...

I hate reblogging mostly because I follow so damn many that it just becomes monotonous to see the same images repeatedly. And, I am sad to say, I do it too... I can justify it though. Seeing as nobody reads this blog, it is purely a source of personal documentation and inspiration collection. So there...

Wouldn't mind getting my hands dirty while DIY-ing pants like these. One for the TO DO list...

Unapologetic...

Laura and Kate Mulleavy fascinate me. Aside from the fact that they do not appear to be your average fashion aficionado's (and thank goodness for that!!), they have a vision that rivals anyone in the fashion industry, past and present. This time around, my homeland of Australia - and more specifically its mesmerizing and treacherous outback - bore inspiration worthy of a Fall 2012 collection.  The best part of this source of inspiration was its interpretation, or rather relocation, from the country itself into the heels of the shoes...

Aside from the Aussie shout-out, I'm proud to say that I can't and most definitely won't try to pinpoint an era reference (although the 1930's esque hair-do is a massive hit in my book!). The Mulleavy sister's have a wonderful knack for highlighting multiple decades of fashion significance within their collections and what I like so much about that is that I don't find myself thinking "I've seen this somewhere before", like on my mother in a black and white photo from the 70's, if you catch my drift.

While the following are, as always, a selection of my top choices (one's that I will dream onto my body sometime after my eye lids embark on their nightly embrace), I highly recommend you to assess the collection in its entirety. It's worth your time and your appreciation... And so, just quietly, is the reinterpretation of the exaggerated shoulder. In general, I steer well clear of a big shoulder but for this collection, I would 100% steer TOWARD it!

Wes Gordon - I'm Intrigued...

Fashionista presented me with a newcomer today by the name of Wes Gordon. Apparently an up-and-comer known in the industry as someone worthy of the Fashion Groups Rising Star Award. I hadn't heard of him until now. My mind is not blowing but I'm going to give it time and hope that the potential amounts to something. The ones that caught my eye and made me wish (as I often do - and by often I mean hourly) that I had a job to raise the funds to be able to purchase such wonderful wears...

My Apologises To You, The Invisible Reader...

Come Spring when it's still cool but warmer enough to finally ditch the Canada Goose, THIS is what I hope to be wearing - I think I could rock a turtle neck... Maybe.

The Previous Before The After...

I have just realized that I have been jumping the gun a little bit with my comments on NYFW shows when I did quite a bit of research on the Pre-Fall collections. Unfortunately I'm having a bit of a dull day, one where my brain is struggling to string a coherent sentence together let alone any quality opinions on the holy than thou collections of my dreams.

Because I Can...

Today is Valentine's Day and therefore a blissfully unproductive day full of sleeping in, eating homemade heart shaped cookies and texting the somewhat obligatory 'Happy V Day' messages to loved ones. I am currently taking time away from my vomit-inducing loved up-ness to post a couple of NYFW images that make me happy and with whom I may just be in love with...

Is That A Cynthia Rowley?...

First impressions have a big impact on me. I have difficulty letting them go. The first time I heard about Cynthia Rowley was on an episode of Sex and the City when Charlotte finds herself questioning the sexual orientation of a prospective partner. It was a season of the show where the outfits donned by the character Charlotte are, much like her Chelsey dwelling boyfriend to be, questionable. It is for that reason that I can't help but relate the name Cynthia Rowley with dated late 90's/early 00's attire. I really need to kick that mental image to the proverbial curb. Until the day when I have the gall, the notoriety and the $$ to attend New York Fashion Week, I will have to settle with metaphorically drooling over the Cynthia Rowley that Style.com presents to me.

According to Style.com's Alison Baenen, Rowley's inspiration for this wonderfully 'hard' collection of sullied burgundy's and leather dungarees was no other than the work wear of a mechanic. Backstage at her show, Rowley herself describes her feelings on the the rugged work wear -  "I liked that you could put one piece on and have barely anything else and look tough and sexy". Hadn't thought of an oil-soiled onesy that way but touche M'aam, touche.

The following are a few of my top picks (as though posting only 15 of 36 outfits doesn't already make that blatantly obvious) with my particular fav's - and the ones that I would genuinely like to be wearing on this -7degree day - being the scrumptiously chocolate brown leather overall dress, the charcoal shearling jacket and the denim-esque pant suit complete with matching shirt.
