Forever Mr McQueen...

US Vogue pays tribute to the boundless and mind blowing talent of the late Alexander McQueen. I can say with complete confidence that no one will ever do for me what the designs of McQueen did - the man was out of this world!

Once An Addict Always An Addict...

I have always been obsessed with shoes but my posts are becoming a little bit ridiculous! This post however serve more purpose than simply admiring a piece of footwear I may never own. - I'm working on creating my own as well as investigating collaborations between inspired people. Luckily there isn't a shortage of the creatively inclined. The image below is from one of my fav blogs - Vanilla Scented - and is a collaboration between fashion designer Naim Josefi and industrial designer Souzan Youssouf. I'm assuming they are wearable but even if they aren't they are most certainly a work of art I could stare at all damn day!!!

Saturday Night with Nachos...

I am prone to mini epiphanies. Goodness knows why but they have a tendency to occur when I'm so damn tired I can't stand up straight and/or I have seen or read or heard something seemingly unrelated to life in general resulting in an internal bolt of lightening to the belly. Tonight's was one of the latter kind. I caught the last 5mins of Happy Feet and found myself getting a little choked up at the final 'dance'... (Send me to the loony bin but at least wait until I have finished) The feeling of starting something that inspires many is a feeling I'm swiftly becoming addicted to. I used to get the same rush when I was one of the lead dancers in an eisteddfod routine - playing leader, adrenalin rush, getting other people excited about a performance - and now I guess I get it from doing things in a slightly more selfless way (insert tooting ones own horn here...).  The whole experience of raising money for the Leukaemia Foundation a month ago and getting people interested in the cause (and I guess the 'performance' of me having my hair cut off) was a bit of an adrenalin rush. A little slower and with a lot less stage lighting but none the less invigorating and self-motivating. I'm beginning to see myself getting more and more excited by the idea of doing other things to get people excited  - whether it be promoting the behind the scenes of the creative industries (something I'm trying for my final year of uni) in an attempt to promote a more genuine understanding of the beauty and hard work that's involved in making wonderful things or tempting Level 10 with sugary treats to take part in and donate to Australia's Biggest Morning Tea as a means of raising money for the Cancer Council. Maybe I'm just growing up but the whole charity thing is less of an awkward scrounge for loose change than it once was. Anyway, here's hoping I can get a couple other kids opening their wallets this time around. Because ultimately we're all going to (if not already) know someone with cancer and we may as well start stacking the points in their favour now instead of just hoping for a miracle later...

On a slightly brighter note - SHOES!

Whoops!...

I just remembered that I haven't posted anything about my 'headshave'!!! I ended up raising $1,500.00 which was AMAZING!!! I'm so proud of everyone who donated! Here's the proof that I followed through on my part of the deal...

My pony tail!!! I kept it for a week before parting with it for good...

Shibui hair salon on Toorak Road in South Yarra was awesome!! Joanne, my hairdresser, seemed more nervous than I was! which made me feel a bit better. The entire Shibui crew were very encouraging! The whole experience is definitely one that I won't easily forget!

I Gave Up By Giving In...

I just set up a twitter account... I definitely don't plan on tweeting anything of my own at this point because frankly I don't have anything to say that anyone other than the people I'm already talking to need to hear. We will see what the future holds.

On a slightly more exciting topic, I LOVE THESE SHOES!!! I have wanted Mary-Jane's my ENTIRE life but for some reason have never got around to owning any. I'm starting to think that it's because I haven't stumbled across a pair of these babies that I can afford. Oh to dream...

Having a Moment...

This year I have decided not to make a collection so to speak, instead I am focusing on the idea of being the creative faculties story teller... In short I am hoping to document students from a variety of creative studies - photography, textile/jewellery/fashion design, media arts, fine arts, etc. - following their journey through their final year of university and the building of the creative concepts that go along with it. So I haven't been getting my hands very dirty as far as creativity goes just yet so to make up for my current withdrawal from all things textile and clothing related I have decided to do a pretty post...

I'd wear flats more often if they were Miu Miu

Love tattoos and piercings and a good vintage vibe

YUM!

Rocking the short hair and a leather jacket a bit like me today...

A little creepy...
