Man Repeller...

My new best friend goes by the name of The Man Repeller (http://www.manrepeller.com/)... She's witty, well-dressed and most simply hilarious and I have to give her snaps for being able to both hold my attention and genuinely entertain me with her words! Her real name is Leandra Medine and she's 22 years old, my favourite new found blog and unfortunately not really my bff... not yet anyway...

The Man Repeller (left) featured in Lucky Magazine

Recently, Lucky magazine hailed her as "one of the most hilarious voices in fashion, chronicling trends that women love and men hate..." and I tend to agree. Leandra has a quirky penchant for drawing anatomy related parallels between fashion and the female genitalia in the most kitsch and pointedly hilarious manner. Her most recent post however is one that I particularly adore for I too am a lover of the 'man repelling' top knot. She writes -

"Man Repeller, you look like an alien" or "Man Repeller, you look like an emaciated sumo wrestler." I suppose I should note my general response as well, "You're just upset the knot at the top of my head is bigger than both of your peewee-sized testicles combined. But thank you for the compliment on my physique."

A topknot that the Man Repeller herself rocked and aptly referred to as a 'flop knot'

Obviously there's just a hint of childish humor but I tend to like that more than any attempt at intellectually stunted, supposedly 'adult' quick-wittedness. And to really slather on the strawberry icing on this tasty chocolate mudcake of a blog she's actually insanely well dressed and amongst all the vagina references and elementary school-esque name calling The Man Repeller makes some very valid points about fashion. It is in fact true that for all the fashionably apt females searching for a male to lock lips, with how do they really expect to attract one while they are ultimately dressing to attract the attention of other fashionably apt females?? - or males that have interest in locking lips only with other males... We - and by we I mean those of us who spend more time looking, touching and pining over clothes/shoes/accessories than we do breathing - are all without a doubt man repellers!!

Chow Down?? Hair Post #1...

On my quest to inspire more interest in the Leukaemia Foundation's Shave for a Cure event I have stumbled across some entertaining and somewhat unappetizing footage that relates to hair, the removal of it and perhaps an unorthodox way to utilize it once it's no longer attached to a head... I hope this inspires a laugh, a giggle or just a click to the link to may Be Brave and Shave donation page... Whatever happens, ENJOY!!!

PLEASE donate to the Leukaemia Foundation's Shave for a Cure event for 2011 where I will be taking part by shaving me head in Melbourne on Saturday the 12th of March!!! http://my.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/amoye?SID=138873&Lang=en-CA

Blue Snow Pants...

I would like to introduce whom ever is interested to my new favourite place on the planet (I have actually introduced this place before but I feel that it is MORE than worthy of a more specific mention)... Bf's parent's cottage on Wasaga Beach on the Georgian Bay is the most peaceful place I have been to and I have to say that I'm a little in love with it! I was lucky enough to be invited there for both Thanksgiving and Christmas and even luckier to witness the spectacular that is a frozen beach!!! Insane!! Fingers crossed that I have the chance to say a proper goodbye to Wasaga Beach before my departure...

Taboganing for the first time...

Let the Light In...

Todd Selby is my photography God when it comes to the spaces he gets to explore! I the days when I pop over to his site and play envious voyeur for 15minutes because, truth be told, over the last 3 years I have started to pine for a space of my own - one that screams 'ME' in a way that isn't obnoxious and overbearing but yummy and worthy of genuine jealously. One which I can take time and care to fill with bits and pieces of random goodness that hasn't been picked up from some mass market furniture store and certainly wasn't put together with an allan key (no offense IKEA, I do appreciate your goodness...). One update explored the blinding light in Erin Wasson's loft. I'm not a devoted follower of hers although I can definitely appreciate her genuineness and earthy beauty but honestly, I-LOVE-HER-HOME!!!! While I am currently bunkered down in a basement apartment I am dying for a floor to ceiling window... I would like to be sitting in a chair that swallows me into its cushiony goodness with a cup of English Breakfast tea (two sugars because I'm a boomba) with my feet on the window sill while reading my new book in total natural light... hmmm... to dream...

I have a thing for big wooden doors... see far right

Light Bulb Moment...

I couldn't sleep last night and amongst the many, many thoughts rolling around inside my skull was a question about how to get people excited and involved and donating to my Shave for a Cure endeavor... The Leukaemia Foundation provides all participants with a web page but it's limited and I am worried that what I want to post might offend... Solution... utilize my very own forum derrrr... So the possible/hopeful conclusion to my conundrum is to do weekly posts here that somehow relate to hair... The use of it, the loss of it, the possibilities of it and promote them - the posts - through facebook... Fingers crossed people start paying attention...

Good Call...

It makes the world of difference even on the worst of days...

I Fell in Love Today...

As per always - and seeing as I have no specific plans until I start my final year of uni upon my return to Australia - I spent part of my day trawling through my ever expanding list of blogs... And I stumbled across a gem. And by gem I mean I fell out of the couch in which I was securely wedged with my mouth open and drooling!! Maria Van Nguyen - the author of Vanilla Scented - has a style that exudes a simplistic cleanliness that is so refreshing and yummy without melting into the same old 'this season's trend is minimalism-bla bla bla'..... I have kept the blog open most of the day constantly going away to at least attempt to be productive before eventually returning time after time to continue exploring the - hopefully - never ending archives... Prepare yourself to witness what MY dreams are made of...

I have no doubt that the future of my blog is going to contain a little bit more of Vanilla Scented...
